The 2nd cYGEGC continues to build on the model of similar successful international conferences and the 1st cYGEGC held in Quebec City, and provides a unique forum for young professionals in the geotechnical engineering and geoscience fields to learn from each others' successes, as well as to hear advice from seasoned professionals. The 1st conference brought together 35 young professional and eight leading senior professionals (from industry, academia and the public and private sectors) to discuss some of the current and the potential future issues and developments facing our professions. All those in attendance agreed on the conferences success, remarked on the friendships and connections made, and new lessons learned.

The confirmed keynote speakers (to date) for the 2nd conference include:

Kerry Rowe - Vice-Principal (Research) and Professor, Queen's University at Kingston
Lee Barbour - Professor, University of Saskatchewan
Peter Wu - President and CEO, Reinforced Earth Company
Erik Eberhardt - Associate Professor, University of British Columbia
